Mahsa Vahdat and Marjan Vahdat: Heart’s Endless Garden – Woven Verses 

On this album Iranian sisters Mahsa Vahdat and Marjan Vahdat create a deeply moving musical tapestry where ancient and modern Persian poetry meet newly composed songs. Blending classical Persian music with elements of European art music, the Norwegian musician Annbjørg Lien features together with a remarkable international ensemble. Together they create a soundscape of rare beauty, depth and emotional resonance.  

The artists intertwined voices carry themes of love, longing, grief and ecstasy, rooted in the rich traditions of Iran while opening toward a wider, contemporary sound.  

Inspired by the image of the Persian carpet, Woven Verses interlaces poetry by Hafez, Rumi, Forough Farrokhzad, Mohammad Ibrahim Jafari and Sohrab Sepehri into a living work of music, memory and artistic resistance.
