The Norwegian Girls Choir: JULENS HJERTE (The Heart of Christmas)

For Christmas the Norwegian Girls Choir presents our favourite Yuletide songs in beautiful arrangements by Henning Sommerro on a record we have chosen to call "The Heart of Christmas". The record also features the Cikada string quartet and Kari Bremnes on two tracks and Lise Sørensen on violin. Anne Karin Sundal is the choir conductor. 

The songs on the new record have mostly been selected from the folk songs that are part of Christmas. They have been given fresh new arrangements and with their quiet simplicity these close relatives of old folk songs are especially endearing and appealing. 

The Norwegian Girls Choir was founded in 1947, then called "NRKs jentekor" (The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation's Girls Choir), and is today known as one of the foremost girls' choirs in Norway. It consists of around 30 girls aged ten to twelve, and also a trainee choir and a studio choir with former members. The choir has participated in many prestigious events including opera performances, debut performances and concerts with popular vocalists.
