KORK (the Norwegian Radio Orchestra) and guest artists on a Christmas CD:

"JUL PÅ ORKESTERPLASS" [Christmas from the front row]

Just before Christmas last year the mellifluous KORK orchestra and five international artists gave a unique musical performance under the arches in Kulturkirken Jakob. Now this concert is being released on CD.

The new Christmas concept from KKV is characterized by dynamic versatility: "Jul på orkesterplass" brings us into the most intimate Christmas places and to the dizziest heights of joy and intensity. At the centre of it all is the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK).

The first concerts in this series have now been released on CD, where we have enjoyed Solveig Slettahjell, Anita Skorgan, Rim Banna, Rikard Wolff and Sondre Bratland, all warmly embraced by the Norwegian Radio Orchestra. A band led by Tord Gustavsen (piano) also contributes, with Jarle Vespestad on drums, Sigurd Hole on double bass and Øyvind Kristiansen on church organ. The conductor of KORK is Christian Eggen. 

On the concert CD you will hear well-loved Christmas carols such as "Stille natt" (Silent Night), "Det hev ei rosa sprunge" [A Spotless Rose] and "White Christmas", and also an entirely new Christmas song by Anita Skorgan, "Om du bare ønsker det" [If you only wish it], and we again hear Rikard Wollf's fabulous hit "Pojken på Månen" [The boy on the moon].

Sondre Bratland gives us three well-known newly arranged songs from his famous Christmas CD "Rosa frå Betlehem" [The rose from Bethlehem], and the Palestinian singer Rim Banna takes us to the cradle of Christmas with the poignant song about the little martyr Sarah. 

Halldor Krogh has produced the album for KKV and NRK, who are releasing the CD together.
