Liv Kreken // Dim Sum // CD

"I couldn’t have made this album when I was twenty," says Liv Kreken, "it requires the adult’s knowledge about life and experiences. There are songs about love and deceit, seen from many sides."

In the middle of February she will release the album "Dim Sum" on the KKV label, thus becoming yet another in the solid line of singer-songwriters to have been signed by the oldest record company in Norway, which has close to four decades of excellence behind it. On her new album she has written most of the lyrics and melodies herself.

Liv Kreken, from western Norway (Jostedal in Sogn), is no newcomer to the music industry or as a stage artist. She has been performing since she made her solo debut in public as an eleven-year old on 17 May, Norway's National Day. She has also played a number of concerts in Norway, Sweden and Finland. Liv has been honoured by the songwriters’ club "Nye Skalders" (New Skalds) and has been granted a scholarship by "Norsk komponistfond" (the Norwegian Composers' Fund). Her debut album "Søt og snill" (Sweet and nice) was released in 2010.

Liv Kreken is known for her striking stage performances and her good lyrics. She loves mixing genres, and has found a good partner in Gunnar Nordén, the producer and multi-instrumentalist, who has created lively expressions together with a number of Swedish musicians and one Norwegian musician, ranging from blues and Spanish guitar swing to Charleston and rock ballads from the 1970s. 

In addition to Nordén, you can hear Christer Karlsson on keyboards, Mats Persson on percussion and Torbjørn Fall on guitar. Hjalmar Leissner also plays guitar, Jonas Lindeborg is on trumpet, Jonas Wall on saxophone and Staffan Findin on trombone. Sigrid Moldestad from Norway joins on Hardanger fiddle and fiddle.
