Oslo Gospel Choir // Salmeskatt // CD
The Oslo Gospel Choir was certainly deserving of its honour as the best-selling recording artist in Norway throughout the 1990s. With his popular approach and stylistic impulses from modern American gospel, choir founder and conductor Tore W. Aas created an approachable music style that touched deep into the heartland of Norway. Oslo Gospel Choir has beyond a doubt become one of the giants of gospel. With its new record "Salmeskatt", the choir sings powerful and touching versions of some of our best-loved hymns. While they sing the language of pop music and still keep the familiar sound of a pop music choir, they add the great power and conviction of classical church music through the collaboration with Ivar Kleive (organ and piano), bringing a whole cathedral into your living room.
In keeping with its tradition, Oslo Gospel Choir and its remarkable soloists take the opportunity to present new songs as well. Three songs by Tore W Aas are premiered here, with new lyrics by Hans Olav Mørk and Erik Hillestad.
