New collection of Christmas favourites  

STILLE NATT / SILENT NIGHT 

For years KKV has released a wide variety of Christmas music albums. Now we are offering a collection of favourites on an exclusive greatest hits album on vinyl featuring some of our foremost artists. 

The list of artists is long. And it spells quality up and down the list. Kari Bremnes, Solveig Slettahjell, Sigvart Dagsland, Ingebjørg Bratland, Rikard Wolff, Sondre Bratland, KORK and the Oslo Gospel Choir – all are included on KKV’s new collection of Christmas music, selected from our impressive catalogue.  

The most notable Christmas albums KKV has released were recorded in the Nativity Church in Bethlehem. This compilation features music we have selected from two of these: “Rosa frå Bethlehem” [The Rose from Bethlehem] with Sondre Bratland, and “Natt i Betlehem” [Night in Bethlehem] with Solveig Slettahjell and Thord Gustavsen.

Many of our Christmas albums have also featured some unique artistic collaborations. One of these is when we linked Kari Bremnes with Swedish artist and actor Rikard Wolff on “Desemberbarn” [December child]. Another was when Norwegian Crown Princess Mette Marit chose Ingebjørg Bratland and other of her favourite artists to interpret hymns on the album “Sorgen og gleden” [Sorrow and Joy]. A third was when the Oslo Gospel Choir collaborated with Sigvart Dagsland on the album “Det skjedde i de dager” [It happened in those days], and a fourth innovative connection was made when KORK [The Norwegian Radio Orchestra] held concerts in Kulturkirken Jakob with Solveig Slettahjell and invited other artists to make the Christmas album “Jul på orkesterplass” [Christmas in the orchestra pit].  

We have also had artists who made their debut with KKV on a Christmas album, for example when Maria Mohn recorded “Over deg vil stjernen skinne” [Over you the star will shine] and when the Vintermåne [Winter Moon] group made the album “Søde julenat” [Sweet Christmas Night].   

All these releases are represented on this year’s Christmas album.  

“Stille natt” is the first release in a series of earlier Christmas releases from KKV. In the years ahead there will be more compilation albums in this series.
